Bang Bankruptcy Lawsuit

Bang Bankruptcy Lawsuit

Vital Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (VPI), the maker of Bang energy drinks, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2022, after losing a $293 million judgment to Monster Beverage Corporation, a competitor. Monster had sued VPI in 2018, alleging that Bang had falsely claimed to include the protein building block creatine in its drinks and had misled consumers about the health benefits of Bang drinks.

VPI’s bankruptcy filing put a halt to Monster’s lawsuit and other costly litigation that VPI was facing. However, the bankruptcy filing also raised questions about the future of Bang energy drinks.

In June 2023, a bankruptcy court judge approved the sale of Bang to Monster for $362 million. This sale was finalized in July 2023, and Bang is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Monster.

It is unclear what impact the bankruptcy and sale will have on Bang energy drinks in the long term. However, Monster has stated that it plans to continue selling Bang and that it is committed to growing the Bang brand.

It is important to note that the bankruptcy and sale do not necessarily mean that Bang energy drinks are unsafe. However, it is always a good idea to do your research before consuming any energy drink. You should also be aware of the risks associated with energy drinks, such as caffeine overdose and dehydration.
