Invega Lawsuit

Invega Lawsuit

Invega is a brand name for a prescription medication called paliperidone palmitate. It is used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autism spectrum disorder. Invega is a long-acting injectable medication, meaning it needs to be injected only once every few months.

There have been several lawsuits filed against the manufacturer of Invega, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, alleging that the drug is defective and can cause serious side effects. The most common side effect alleged in these lawsuits is gynecomastia, which is the abnormal growth of breast tissue in males.

In 2013, Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay $2.2 billion to resolve criminal and civil investigations into the marketing of Invega, Risperdal, and other medications by Janssen. The company was accused of misleading doctors and patients about the safety of these drugs, including the risk of gynecomastia.

As of December 2023, there are several active class-action lawsuits filed against Janssen alleging that Invega causes gynecomastia. These lawsuits are still in the early stages of litigation, and it is not yet clear what the outcome will be.

If you have taken Invega and developed gynecomastia, you may be eligible to join a class-action lawsuit. You can contact a lawyer to learn more about your legal options.

Here are some of the specific allegations made in the Invega gynecomastia lawsuits:

  • Janssen failed to adequately warn doctors and patients about the risk of gynecomastia.
  • Janssen engaged in deceptive marketing practices to promote Invega as a safe and effective treatment for schizophrenia and other mental health disorders.
  • Janssen knew or should have known that Invega could cause gynecomastia, but it concealed this information from the public.

The plaintiffs in these lawsuits are seeking compensation for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages.
