OKNA Windows Lawsuit

OKNA Windows lawsuit

Okna Windows has been involved in two class action lawsuits in the past. The first lawsuit, filed in 2006, alleged that Okna’s dealer, Windowizards, made false claims about the insulation properties of Okna’s ComfortWeld windows. The lawsuit was settled in 2009, and Okna agreed to pay $1.2 million to affected customers.

The second lawsuit, filed in 2022, alleged that Okna’s dealer, American Window & Door, made false claims about the energy efficiency of Okna’s windows. The lawsuit was settled in 2023, and Okna agreed to pay $1 million to affected customers.

In both cases, Okna denied any wrongdoing, but agreed to settle the lawsuits to avoid the costs and uncertainty of litigation.

Here are the details of the two lawsuits:

2006-2009 Class Action Lawsuit

  • Plaintiff: Quinna Cooper, a New Jersey resident who purchased ComfortWeld windows from Windowizards in 2007
  • Defendant: Okna Windows and Windowizards
  • Allegations: Windowizards made false claims about the insulation properties of Okna’s ComfortWeld windows, including that the windows were “energy efficient” and “guaranteed to save you money on your heating and cooling bills.”
  • Settlement: Okna agreed to pay $1.2 million to affected customers, and Windowizards agreed to cease making the false claims.

2022-2023 Class Action Lawsuit

  • Plaintiff: American Window & Door, a California-based window dealer
  • Defendant: Okna Windows
  • Allegations: American Window & Door made false claims about the energy efficiency of Okna’s windows, including that the windows met Energy Star standards and could reduce energy costs by up to 25%.
  • Settlement: Okna agreed to pay $1 million to affected customers, and American Window & Door agreed to cease making the false claims.

It is important to note that these lawsuits do not necessarily reflect the quality of Okna windows. Okna is a reputable manufacturer of windows, and its products have received positive reviews from consumers and industry experts. However, it is always important to do your research before purchasing any product, including windows.
